Pandora on the iPhone is awesome. If you have a iPhone.. its a great app to have.
Pandora is an online music streaming service based on the Music Genome Project. Basically a bunch of guys tagged everything they could about loads of songs..Add a massive algorithm on that and put it on the net. Result - Pandora.
So now when you search for an artist, Pandora can look up similar music for you and play it. Initially you need to tweak your stream by thumbs-downing or thumbs-uping certain tracks, but it gets better the longer you use it. It also has a nifty feature where it tells you why pandora chose that song..
We’re playing this track because it features basic rock song structures, a subtle use of vocal harmony, acoustic rhythm piano, major key tonality, electric guitar riffs, a breathy male vocalist, prominent use of synth and many other similarities…
Yes.. they know what they’re doing.

Lots of new stuff… lots of stuff to throw my 2 cents at.
1. iPhone 3G - Meh!
If you are a new to the iPhone user base you will love this thing. If you own an old one, you probably dont need it ( because of No. 2). Looks better than the first one cause I love the metallic buttons on the side.
2. iPhone 2.0 upgrade - Sweet!
Not only did apple launch the new iPhone 3G, they updated the old iPhones with the same firmware as the new ones. So I have everything a new iPhone 3G software-wise. 3G and GPS are themselves hardware upgrades ( each needing a new antenna - which probably explains the plastic back). The iPhone now comes with an App Store that lets you download application for the iPhone wirelessly or through iTunes. This opens up the phone are a whole new developer platform and the numbers show it. Apple reported that they have sold 1 million iPhones 3G’s worldwide in just 3 days and more than 10 million.. yes.. 10 million apps have been downloaded in 4 days… thats a ridiculous number. The first iPhone was to show the world how to make a phone, this iPhone ( and its software) is here to make the iPhone stick.

3. Canon Rebel Xsi - Awesome!
I am loving my new camera, man now I have to buy so many new lenses.. Check out the love on my flickr page.

Am using the iPhone app store and loving it… have an exam tomorrow, So will only update later
Btw Camera has arrived.
At last… I’ve wanted to buy this baby for a while and now Data Robotics has released the second Gen Drobo with the interface bus that i wanted - Firewire 800. I’m almost certainly getting one.

With the recent acquisition of a Canon Rebel XSi, Photography is soon to become a part of my routine. Though still lost in the endless network of US shipping, I should be getting an email soon that it has arrived at my um-doorstep. ( Yes. My packages send me email bitches, so does my Laundry !!). Not only that but I bought a bag-pack for the camera and my laptop specifically.
So obviously, from a technology stand point of view this is a big step. Now, I am starting to wonder where and how I will begin this photography chapter. Start with the simple stuff.. Campus and events… Make backups of everything.. get a new hard-drive..maybe a flickr account! Hmm. Interesting.
At the beginning of summer I had a list of things I wanted to achieve this summer. Going to work and classes have been taken care of.. taken care of very well. Where as my other “Projects” have kind of lagged. My newly designed website is still not done. I haven’t learnt a single line of Cocoa and am not ready for the iPhone SDK at all. And some projects that are for ‘My Eyes Only’ have been slow to push off the ground. So the summer has been and hasn’t been a successful endeavor. Certainly I have learnt a lot (specially at work, not so much in class) and have some cool ideas for my ECE side in the coming future.
But there is still loads to do.
Moving into my new apartment is a big one. Furniture. Lights. um.. Cool Stuff. Kitchenware. Stuff. More Cool Stuff ( notice the caps on Cool Stuff). Cool Stuff including things like Bose speakers, USB microscopes, lots of hard-drive storage space, maybe a Lava Lamp, never owned one of those before! (Please Excuse Excessive Capitalization, I’m Stuck In Wiki Mode From Work ;). I definitely want a big-ass LCD display and wood-finish furniture. That always looks better in my head… the latter that is. So I’ll be hitting IKEA and craigslist soon. That reminds me, I’m actually bidding for a gold Lego brick Keychain on eBay.. call me crazy. By the way.. If any of you have cool keychain ideas let me know. Yes, I will now have keys, and less cards. Going analog.
I should be getting to my Economics homework that I have been postponing for a week now. Hrmpf.

Welcome.. Welcome back.
I’ve been working ( and delaying) this for a while now. Finally I have something and I’m going to run with it. As you can see, My blog is now called ‘Additional Noise’. Don’t ask me where I got the name from. I was in the lab routing traces on a circuit board when the idea came to me, I tabbed over to godaddy.com and bought the domain. I like to think of it as a Blog-ish and ECE- ish pun. The name was the easy part. I have three diffrent versions of a logo ( all blogs should have a logo) and I still dont have a finalized design.
Let me give you a tour.
To the top we see the header and mirroring it, in the bottom we see the footer, such design…
. For those updated users of , atleast, Safari 3.1 and Firefox 3, you will notice the nice rounded corners of the sidebar. Thats thanks to new nifty CSS3 features these browsers support. Makes the whole rounded corners stuff much easier. For those of you on Internet Explorer ( specially 6.0) , let me tell you now.. I dont care for you. Sorry.
If you are using a mordern browser and have issues with the page, please do tell me. I did test this on 47-something browsers, but all I got was screenshots and not real functionality ( Try: www.browershots.org )
The Sidebar has a my twitter feed and links. If you want yours on there, let me know and I’ll think about it ( old timer links will of-course be put up soon, so don’t worry).
Next, What am I going to blog about? Pshh.. when has that ever mattered. I’ll figure it out.
Now one thing I’m not a fan of is all this comment moderation, I havent found a way around it.. I dont want readers to have to wait for me to approve their comments. Its just painful and retarded, much like At&t making the iPhone 3G buying experience a downright cluster-fuck. More on that soon.
See you later.
